Well I did launch the setup in another compatability mode (right click it and either choose the compatability troubleshooter or choose manually). The troubleshooter wanted me to proceed with Vista compatibility mode, reboot, stil same issue.
I decided to choose manually and opt for windows 8 (strangely enough Windows 10 doesn't know about its predecessor windows 8.1 compatibilty mode (or it coincidates with 10 or 8 ???)
Jul 28, 2017 So, now as you know how important such adapters are, check about the best USB WiFi adapter for Windows 10 on the site. As per an extensive research, I jumped into the conclusion that Edimax ew-7811un is the best wireless adapter available. I am trying to install the Edimax EW-7811UTC usb wifi adapter which is said to be compatible for Windows 10 and i went through the installation disk that was provided with the usb adapter in the box and i restarted the computer as instructed and there is no application available for me to connect the device to my wifi internet, in the device manager it claims that there is no compatible driver. Download Edimax EW-7811UN Driver For Windows, Mac And Linux. This wireless mini nano size USB adapter complies with wireless 802.11b/g/n standards with data rate up to 150Mbps. Whatever, another reboot...... still nothing.
So if for some reason your windows 10 out - of - the box works..... DO NOT update to the vendor driver !!!! However facing the fact you are on this page, indicates you actually already did......

I looked for the *.sys & *.inf files on my system and tried to get rid of them.. strangely enough I see them in system32inf but can't rename them unless you have SUPERADMIN rights as an identity called TRUSTEDINSTALLER (I suppose they didn't want you to ruin you system at boot time).
Now what ?
