Years ago I read a history of the SAS that was brilliant. Not at all thriller-ish. None of this macho, gung-ho nonsense, just a very interesting history which gave a lot of insight into the nature of post colonial British wars and military actions. I can't recall the author and can't find the book online. Any ideas? I have an idea that the name was a bit on the bland side, like 'Dan Jones' or something. Hmm.
